Christmas 2002
This Christmas we headed to Nashville, Tennessee to spend the holidays with friends. We got to Conway, Arkansas and it was sleeting and getting very icy. SemiTrucks were not making up the steep inclines. On a sunny warm day it would normally takes 32 minutes to travel 30.3 miles. We were in traffic for 6 hours, needless to say we were not traveling very fast. They would get one Semi cleared off the road and then another one would slide off the road and block traffic. We were afraid we were going to run out of gas and then when we finally made it to an exit we took some back roads to a motel in Little Rock Arkansas. Knowing that we would not make it any further we had called ahead to reserve a room for the night. Back roads are not easy in towns that are in the hills. You can just go East or South. So getting to the hotel was another adventure in the dark, in a town we didn't know.
We made it to the hotel and the weather report was not looking good either. We didn't think that we could make it on to Nashville, let alone get back. So we spent our Christmas in Little Rock. It turned out wonderful.
As our tradition goes, we try to outdo each other. Packing surprise gifts in the car is not always easy. So retiring for a long winters nap on Christmas eve was easy, since the drive had been so stressful. I got up and went into the living quarters of our hotel and Santa Clause had left a package in the middle of the floor.
 
A beautiful Movado watch
. In which he had bought a matching watch for himself. I was almost in tears, it was so beautiful. But the note that was attached, just sent me into the most down fall of tears. I don't know how the man can make me feel so special and loved. So I wanted to share his words with you.
In God's grand plan, and if death comes not before that plan has played out, we all come to a point where our perception of time is altered. A point when we find ourselves spending more on recalling memories of past victories than dreaming of greatness awaiting in the future. You and I have crossed that threshold together. I am grateful to have not crossed it alone.
Now when I feel time fleeting from me and I am compelled to consult my watch, I wish to be reminded of how you have made so many of my memories worth relishing. I also wish to be reminded to cherish the time we have left to share.
I suppose there are so many ways for a man to proclaim love as there are men to proclaim it. This small token of my gratitude to you is but one way. It is my way.
These small trinkets are a matched set. Perhaps as you and I are. My Christmas wish is that when you feel time rudely nudging you, that you would be reminded you need not fear facing the clock alone.
I will be there with you always.

Oh, ya I had gotten him a hat. He loves hats, and he didn't get any sweet note with his. So again, I give him the prize this year.
