Dietician Richa Anand tells you the benefits of your fruit plate, inside-out
Everyone's been recommending them, from the models to fashion magazines, to the aunty next door. For unlike other wonder cures, fruits are great for you, whether you eat them, or apply them. They protect your body against infections, strengthen the immune system and heal wounds.
APRICOT

Dried or fresh a handful of apricot is loaded with vitamin A, C, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and fibre. It helps those who have dull and lifeless skin and the iron regulates haemoglobin. Apricots also have beta-carotene that improves immunity and helps fight skin allergies, rashes and other skin problems.
Quick Tip: Smear some fresh apricot juice on your skin to soothe painful sunburns
WATERMELON
 Consisting of 90 per cent water, watermelon hydrates and rejuvenates our skin. It contains lycopene that helps flush out toxins and combats free radicals with its antioxidant properties -- an inexpensive and a quick detox therapy
Quick Tip: Keep thin slices of watermelon on your face for a quick cooling
PAPAYA
 Papaya is a good source of Vitamin A and papain. Vitamin A acts as an anti-oxidant, while the papain breask down inactive proteins and removes dead cells. The best feature of the fruit is its low-sodium quality. Since the salt content is less, the water retention is also little. The result -- an over all hydrated skin.
Quick Tip: Rub mashed papaya on cracked heels to remove dead cells and make feet softer.
APPLE
 Apple is a great source of fibre which keeps bowels clean, ensuring skin that is free of acne and boils. It is also loaded with phytochemicals that have properties similar to antioxidants. Studies hve also shown that eating apples regularly can reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Quick Tip: Mix a grated apple with honey and apply it on your face for five minutes for a hydrated, stress free skin.
PEACH
 Peach is packed with potassium and flavanoids apart from vitaminA. It helps revitalising and hydrating the epidermis. The antioxidants help wonds recover faster and prevents signs of early ageing.
Quick Tip: Grate one peach, mix it with sugar and use as face scrub.
